About Course

Impact Innovation Lab (The Lab) is now calling for applications for the Second Cohort! Organised by MakerBay Foundation and funded by The Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund (SIE Fund), Impact Innovation Lab helps social innovation startups achieve their visions of alleviating poverty and promoting social inclusion, while raising public awareness on social innovation. The Second Cohort consists of three parts: Elementary Training, Seed Funding Application and 6-month Incubation Period. 

Applicants will participate in Maker Skills Workshops, Bootcamp and Weekly Tutorial Courses, covering various aspects of social innovation. The highlighted training – Bootcamp is themed “Golden Year Life”, participants will first join experiential activities to understand different needs of local elderly, then learn and experience the process of starting a social innovation project. Through hybrid learning and training, participants will be able to build a solid foundation with the essential skills needed to run social innovation projects as well as an entrepreneur mindset. The Funding Application will start accepting proposals in November 2023. Awarded projects will receive up to $100,000 in seed capital, and enter a six-month incubation period to actualise their visions step by step.

Eligibility

  • Permanent Residents of Hong Kong aged 18 or above
  • Interested parties can join the activities and training sessions individually and form a team of 1 to 5 members for seed funding application

Social Innovation Exploration Series & Information Session of Cohort 2
Aligning the theme of "Golden Year Life", Impact Innovation Lab organizes a Social Innovation Exploration Series, which is a webinar by inviting two experienced social entrepreneurs will look through their bittersweet social innovation journeys with the audience under the theme of “Golden Year Life”. The guest speakers not only told their stories of entrepreneurship, but also provided advices and tips on applying fund and running social enterprises. Meanwhile, an information session was conducted on the same day, which provided detailed information about Cohort 2, including the timeline, evaluation criteria and application procedures. Introduction of Social Innovation & Briefing Session
This is an orientation session for you to learn about the detailed schedule and content of Impact Innovation Lab. As a kick-start event, it will be a good chance for you to meet others and network!

Idea Generation & Prototyping Bootcamp
Weekend Hackathon for participants to form teams and work on a social innovation idea. They will have a chance to practice their skills and grow their mindset via the experience. It will be a theme-based bootcamp and participants will grow their idea based on their insights from the experiential activities.
